The National Geodetic Reference Frame constitutes the fundamental base on which all the cartography of the country is based. Without a reference frame, no cartography is possible. The reference frames are currently being defined with great precision through permanent stations installed all over the planet, which continuously receive data from the NAVSTAR and GLONASS satellite constellations.
